Interlife is involved in “Maternal and Child Health” programmes, which are implemented in case of emergency and help pregnant women in the most remote and inaccessible areas of South India, where there are no medical practices or professional nurses and where poverty puts the lives of many newborns and their mothers at risk every day.

According to the World Health Organization, India has the highest maternal and neo-natal mortality rates.

Public transport does not reach the rural areas where we operate and pregnant women, too poor to call private ambulances, cannot go to hospital several tens of kilometers away from their village, not only for check-ups during pregnancy but, above all, at the critical moment of childbirth.

The health of mothers and newborns are hung to a thread that too often snaps!

Poverty must not stop Life

Leave no one behind

Health is everyone's right

We firmly believe that every human being is entitled to the highest attainable standards of wellbeing. Therefore, we have launched the Interlife health-related programmes, to help people, even in the remotest areas, and guarantee everyone, above all children and the elderly, who find it even more difficult to be treated and reach hospitals or doctors, the access to health services, when and where they need them.

Our children, thanks to the Toolkit, go from 1 meal a day to 3 and 90% of the beneficiaries have 90% more chances to supplement their diet with more foodstuffs.
100% of our children go to school.

Necessary in case of malnutrition

Food supplements

With your support we can take action in many severe cases of malnutrition affecting the poorest children, who are often severely debilitated by hunger and lack of nutrients.

Malnutrition is one of the main enemies we fight every day.

90% of the children we meet appear younger than their real age. A meal a day, mainly rice, is not enough to ensure the correct mental and physical development of a growing child. In the areas where we operate, one in two children is malnourished, and 70% of the rest still show the signs of past malnutrition.

MOBILE CLINICS

Our nurses and midwives go from village to village in the most poor and rural areas to treat the neediest people with screenings for pregnant women and new mothers.
